Expect a Thrilling Goku-Esque Punch in Creed 3, Sure to Delight Dragon Ball Enthusiasts

Michael B. Jordan is Creed III’s director and actor. He explains how Dragon Ball Z was the inspiration for his latest entry in Rocky films.

Michael B. Jordan (the leading actor and director of Creed III) revealed the inspiration for the ninth installment in Rocky’s film series, Dragon Ball Z.

Otaku USA said that Jordan was discussing the anime influences of Creed III at IGN Fan Fest. “Without getting too geeky… You’ve seen so countless fights throughout the Rocky and Creed franchise. So I wanted to give my take on it, you see?” Jordan replied. Jordan added. But it’s similar to the brotherhood of Damian Anderson (Adonis Cred) and the bond that he [Adonis Croed] has with his family. I tried to identify some of those moments.

Creed III Features the Dragon Ball Z-Style Punch

Jordan noted Dragon Ball Zas the anime influence fans should watch out for in Creed III. The Dragon Ball Z punch was used by Jordan in the fight with Jonathan Majors. Although no move was cited, Goku is the original series protagonist. He has delivered memorable punches to Jordan’s character in the Dragon Ball series.

Jordan has been talking about his love and passion for anime and manga over the past few years. Jordan said in an earlier interview that many sequences from the movie were inspired by Hajime No Ippo boxing anime.

CreedIII has Adonis Creed facing off against Damian Anderson, his former friend. The drama marks the ninth entry to the Rocky movie franchise. It is also the first film without original star Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa), who was forced to leave the role due to the dark turn Jordon Winkler, producer, and Irwin Winkler made. Tessa Thompson portrays Bianca, Florian Munteanu portrays Viktor Drago, and Mary Anne Creed plays Phylicia Rashed.

Creed III opened in North America on March 3.
